
Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Siddhartha (Sid) Mengi joined the New Brunswick Heart Centre in 2025 as an interventional cardiologist specializing in coronary and structural heart interventions and serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Dalhousie University.
He completed his medical degree with Honours from West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University, China, receiving four honors and the President’s Gold Medal for academic excellence. He obtained his MD from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom, followed by general and interventional cardiology training in the National Health Service (NHS) England, earning a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of London, UK. He also holds European certification in General Cardiology and a Diploma in Clinical Cardiology from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA.
Dr. Mengi later completed advanced fellowship training in coronary and structural heart disease interventions at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute (Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec), Québec City. He is currently pursuing a PhD at Université Laval, Québec City, focusing on outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in heart failure.
An active researcher, he has co-authored numerous papers and research abstracts published in leading peer-reviewed cardiology and medical journals covering topics in interventional cardiology, structural therapies, heart failure and the latest developments in the field. He serves as a co-investigator in several multicentre registries and clinical trials involving percutaneous coronary intervention, TAVI and structural interventions, and has co-authored chapters in cardiology textbooks.
Dr. Mengi has performed more than 4,000 diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. His clinical expertise includes complex coronary procedures, intracoronary imaging (IVUS/OCT), TAVI, transcatheter mitral and tricuspid therapies and congenital procedures.
He is dedicated to advancing patient-centered cardiovascular care, research, and education in New Brunswick. He speaks French and English.
