The New Brunswick Heart Centre has been performing the MitraClip procedure since 2017. This minimally invasive percutaneous method of correcting severe mitral regurgitation is currently only available in 5 Canadian provinces. It can provide relief from severe heart failure symptoms for patients who would otherwise not be candidates for open-heart surgery for this valve disorder.
The team is led by Dr Brent McGrath, Dr Bob Teskey, Dr Jennifer Cloutier Dr David Bewick and Dr Jean-François Légaré.
